Yesterday my good friend Sydney Johnson called into The Next Level from London, Ontario to give his first interview. Plus he discussed teaming up with friends such as Red Eye Ray to continue his musical pursuits, slowly but surely inching his way towards that much desired breakthrough.
While the company of Sydney was a huge boost for the show, I think the real reward followed the live episode. Many of my peers from high school spoke with me afterwards and offered many compliments towards the entire show. I also saw the kind comments they had posted on various online profiles. It was so cool.
I have been fortunate enough to accomplish a lot more than I ever anticipated in the last three years. I have been in the presence of my idols and heroes who inspired me to get to this point. I have accessed backstages of venues, tour buses, had many telephone discussions with several individuals, but nothing has compared to the feedback coming from the roots which inspired it all. From the bottom of my heart and with the utmost appreciation, I thank you.

@philmayetho @BeardedGMusic chats w/ Keith Buckley @everytimeIdie - @JoseCanseco, Ex Lives, & Ottawa
Phil Maye of Bearded Gentlemen Music had the great opportunity to speak with one of his favourite musicians, Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die. For as long as I have known Phil, he has been the most resourceful person about music - any genre, any artist, any era, I can relay to him about a lot of information. It’s an interview full of great questions and answers and I hope you enjoy this as well.

At the end of the women’s basketball game between McMaster Marauders and Windsor Lancers. Next Saturday, the Lancers host Carleton Ravens of the OUA East for top prize of the OUA conference in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Furthermore, it is the Lancers’ third straight trip to the OUA finals - first time a women’s basketball team has accomplished a remarkable feat since the Laurentian Voyageurs of the late seventies.
It was great to perform colour commentary duties with my partner Vincenzo Liburdi. He handled play-by-play very well and maintained the energy throughout the entire broadcast. The spirit of the St. Denis Centre was electric as community support roared through the building all night. Glad the women’s team keeps their winning streak alive after it was reported that the Lancers men’s basketball team lost to the Lakehead Thunderwolves 78-64 in the bronze medal OUA West final. The men’s hockey team was also defeated by the Waterloo Warriors at the Columbia Ice Fields by a score of 5-3.
Overall, a great night of sports throughout the OUA and CIS. To do the webcast via ustream made me look forward to the music show ahead this week. Lots of new and jamming artists and I promise not to disappoint.
Interviews and awards are calling. I feel like I have a lot more to do and while I’ve finished plenty this weekend, it still feels like it is not enough. I once read a quote that said those who look like they’re doing nothing are actually doing the most. I’m not sure what that means, but I like it and it makes sense to me when I feel it is contradiction within itself.
I haven’t poured this much introspection into a blog entry in years. Something is different and it could’ve been anything that changed. Whatever it is, it feels genuine enough that I don’t want to question it and I want to continue on my happy way one keystroke at a time.
Things are good, things are getting better… Slowly but surely, I’m sure. It is feeling good to regain composure and rebuild these broken aspects. This was the kind of night I needed and had been looking for. A simple and constant reminder of how comfortable things are and things are starting to become okay.
I must put in a little more work and the effort will make entire sense. It won’t be much longer now. Everything is feeling better again. I feel human again.
